Central Authority
The Central Authority is the designated authority to manage the sending and receiving requests for legal assistance, adapting them and referring to their respective national and foreign authorities. In Brazil, the central authority reviews the applications for assets and liabilities, suggesting adjustments, and acting as a sort of court administrative admissibility, that aims to accelerate and improve the quality of the cooperation results.
The Attorney General's Office is the Central Authority in Brazil for requests of direct assistance intended and derived from Portugal and Canada.
Request of direct assistance to other countries is the role of the Department of Assets Recovery and International Legal Cooperation, subordinate to the National Secretariat of Justice of the Ministry of Justice
MAINTENANCE ORDERS
The requests for international letters rogatory of Maintenance Orders filed before the Federal Court have the Federal Prosecution as the Central Authority under the Convention on Maintenance Obligations in other Countries.
